When designing a high-end home, it’s often the focal points that define the entire space. In this recently completed private residence in Kent, the brief was clear: create a striking, architectural centrepiece that would anchor the living area and reflect the quality of the build throughout.
The solution? A full-height stone cladding fireplace using Norstone® PLANC™ modular stone strips in Graphite Lavastone — supplied by Rock On Ltd.
The result is a bold, contemporary feature wall that combines natural stone texture, refined detailing, and the unmistakable presence of premium materials.
From the outset, this installation was designed to be more than just a fireplace surround. The client opted for a floor-to-ceiling stone cladding feature wall, allowing the material to take centre stage within the open-plan living space.
The proportions are key. By extending the stone cladding vertically, the fireplace becomes an architectural element rather than a decorative addition. The clean recess around the firebox adds depth, while the uninterrupted stone surface creates a calm, cohesive visual statement.
Norstone® PLANC™ is unlike traditional stacked stone cladding. Instead of irregular textures, it offers a linear, modular format, designed for modern interiors where precision and proportion matter.
